Fab Fish and a spectacular view @ The Watch House Cafe - Westbay

My Dad visited us recently and loves his fish. He is also a good cook. I've been lucky to have good cooks in both my Mum and Dad which I am sure is where my love of food comes from.

Mel had researched the he Watch House Cafe and so with fingers crossed we headed to the unknown territory of Broadchurch country. You never know we may even bump into  the Tennant in the wild.

Ok its Westbay near Bridport and no everyone doesn't speak with an exaggerated West country accent.

So what was on the menu - see the photo below:

As you can see very fish oriented and the items described are all very appetising.

You can see from the menu they have a wood-fired pizza oven we didn't try a pizza but you can see from the picture it is the real thing.

So what did we go for? Dad and I had the the Roasted gurnard served with new potatoes. Totally delicious. The fish was cooked to perfection and the skin was crispy. The secret of good fish and this is something I learned from my Dad is keep it simple and don't over cook it. Fresh fish will speak for its self and this was achieved with the dish below.

Mel went for the mackerel gap served in a ciabatta. As you can see below you're not going hungry! Again very yummy.
Mackerel bap consumption in action.
To drink I went for a cider which went very well with the fish.
We finished the meal with a palate cleansing lemon sorbet and went out on to the deck to drink an expresso.
So here is the hidden treat if you have come into the restaurant from the car park on not the beach side. The view that greats you on the terrace is spectacular. The photo doesn't do it justice.

So come for great food and a wonderful setting.
